Hayden R. Maginnis, Navy commander
Hayden Robert Maginnis, 73, of Arlington Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 7, in ArlintonHospital. He livedin the Washington D. C. area since 1965.
He was a Navy Commander, retiring in 1969as special assicstant to the deputy chief of Navel material.
He was born in Bangor.
He attended Lehigh University.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1940 and received a fleet appointment to the U. S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, NJ graduating in 1945.
His Navy career included sea duty aboard battleships, destroyers, a missile cruiser a submarine and an aircraft carrier. He also served on the faculty of the Naval Academy and gradate from the Naval war College.
After retired, he worked for RCA on Navy contracts.
In addition to his wife, Betty Jane, he is survived by two sons, and a sister.
The Murphy Funeral Home of Arlington, 4510 Wilson Blvd., was in charge of arrangements.
Burial was in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. |
