Calvin W. Knecht
Calvin W. Knecht, 78, a former resident of Schoeneck, near
Nazareth, died early today at the home of his son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Earl W. Haldeman, of East Lawn, Nazareth
R. D.2.
Mr. Knecht had been residing with the Haldermans for a few
days and prior to then, lived with another son-in-aw and daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Russell s. Berger, also of East Lawn.
He was born in Bushkill Township, Dec 4, 1871, a son of the
late Robert J. and Marie Elizabeth Roth Knecht. In his younger
life he was engaged in farming, but later he gave that up to
became a carpenter.
Mr. Knecht had been retired for the last 10 years. He was
a member of Salem Evangelical Reformed Church, Moorestown.
His wife Sarah E. Neuman Knecht, died Oct 24, 1840 and a son,
Augustus, died in March 1948.
Surviving besides his two daughters are a son, Stanley H.
of Bethlehem R. D2, another daughter Mrs. Warren C. Bickert,
of Nazareth R. D.2; 22 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren
and two brothers, Howard of Hollo, Nazareth R. D1, and Floyd
of Bath R.D. 1.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Schmidt
Mortuary, Nazareth, with the Rev. H.D. Clauss, pastor of Salem
Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview cemetery, Moorestown. |
