Mrs. Irene M. Day Steckel 58 years old, wife of Charles C. Steckel, of 328 Bushkill Street, died last evening at 9:30 at her home, of complications following a heart attack. She had been in failing health for several years.

Mrs. Steckel was born in Jersey City, a daughter of the late John R. and Kate Matteson Day. Her father was a well known conductor on the Central Railroad of New Jersey and the family formerly lived at 1322 Washington Street, this city.

Besides her husband, who is president of the Steckel Sand Company this city she is survived by four daughters and two sons; Mrs. Richard Conrad, of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Mrs. Roger Lewis, of Paris Texas; Miss Marion Steckel, Miss Helen Steckel and Williard A. Steckel, at home; Claude D Steckel, Phillipsburg. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. May Voight, Easton and Mrs. Thomas Benyon of Hollis, Long Island. Mrs. Steckel attended the Presbyterian Church.
